Grease Trap Deep Cleaning and Degreasing in Austin, TX
Deep cleaning and degreasing is one of our four services, and it’s also the first step of every grease trap repair we do. Call to talk through what your trap needs.
If an inspector found the trap itself damaged, cleaning won’t fix it. Here’s what to do after a failed inspection.
Not the same as a pump-out
A pump-out empties the trap. Austin’s code requires it: at least every three months, or sooner once grease and solids reach 50% of the wetted height, with everything removed, including the residue. Only a liquid waste hauler permitted by the City of Austin may do it.
Deep cleaning and degreasing is a separate service, for the trap itself. It doesn’t replace the pump-out your hauler does on Austin’s schedule.

Deep cleaning, a pump-out or a repair?
| What you need | Who to call |
|---|---|
| The trap emptied on Austin’s schedule | Your permitted liquid waste hauler |
| The trap deep cleaned and degreased | Us |
| Holes, cracks, corrosion or a broken baffle wall repaired | Us. Every repair starts with cleaning and degreasing the trap |
Be there when the trap is serviced
Austin Water’s advice is to be present when your trap is serviced, and to ask for grease and sludge layer measurements. When Austin Water inspects a trap, an Industrial Waste staff member must be present while it’s being serviced.
Questions about deep cleaning a grease trap
Is deep cleaning part of a repair?
Yes. Every repair begins by cleaning and degreasing the trap, before holes and cracks are repaired and the trap is coated.
Does deep cleaning count as my Austin pump-out?
No. The code’s pump-out is a complete emptying by a liquid waste hauler permitted by the City of Austin, at least every three months.
What if the cleaning shows damage?
Then ask about a repair. We work through the night, so your kitchen has its trap back by morning.
